What is window tinting?

Window tinting is a process which involves the application of a thin film to the vehicles windows that can be used to reduce the amount of sunlight, heat and glow entering the vehicle, while still allowing the appropriate level of visibility. This also adds a stylish exterior element to the vehicle as well as protecting the interior against damage from ultraviolet radiation. When applied properly by a professional technician, window tints can last a lifetime with minimal maintenance required.

Window tinting is legal in the UK as long as the material used meets the British Standard requirements. The front windscreen is permitted to have a light transmission value of 75% or more, whereas the front two windows must have a minimum light transmission value of 70%. There are no restrictions when tinting the rear windows of the vehicle. You are allowed to tint it as dark as you would like.
How dark can the front windows be tinted?
As mentioned in the previous question, the front two windows must have a minimum light transmission value of 70%. Unfortunately, anything lower than this value will be considered as illegal.
How long will it take to tint my car?
We aim to complete customers vehicles between an hour to an hour and a half. However, some vehicles may take less time and some may take a little bit longer. This all depends on the complexity and size of the vehicle itself. We take great pride in our work, therefore we do not like rushing the job itself.
Is there a guarantee with the window tinting film?
At Exclusive Mods, we provide a lifetime warranty. This ensures that you are protected against any issues such as bubbles, peeling or fading. We aim to make sure our customers are completely satisfied with our work. We only use the best quality materials available with a combination of the best specification of film.
Can you tint my car headlights?
Yes, we do offer headlight tint, which can really change the looks of your vehicle as well as protect the lights against any potential damage such as stone chips.
What is a chameleon windscreen?
Chameleon windscreen is a reflective window film for the front windscreen of the vehicle, designed to reduce the amount of heat entering the vehicle, as well as enhancing the looks. Chameleon windscreen tint also blocks out 99% of harmful UV rays, reducing potential skin damage for both drivers and passengers. There are many colours to choose from, making it ideal to select the one that would be most suitable for the colour of your car.
What is car wrapping?
Vehicle wrapping is a way of changing the colour and look of your vehicle without the need to respray the whole car. It is considered to be a more cost effective method in comparison to re-painting. The process involves applying a vinyl film onto the surface of the vehicle. There are many different colours to choose from as well as different finishes such as gloss, satin or matte. Vinyl car wrapping can help protect the vehicle’s original paintwork from light scratches and chips. The vinyl can be removed at any point, however it is highly recommended that this is done by a professional, as it will have to be done in the correct manner to avoid any problems.
Will car wrapping damage my paint?
There are many points to look out for when it comes to wrapping a vehicle. The vinyl has been correctly applied by a trained professional , in order to avoid any potential damage to the paintwork of the vehicle. Another point that has to be considered is the existing paint job. If the existing paint job on the vehicle is damaged or has poor adhesion due to rust or lacquer peel, then this may cause further damage to the vehicle if the correct measures are not taken beforehand. We always carry out a full inspection of any vehicles coming in for wrapping before proceeding any further in the best interest for our customers.
How long does it take to wrap my car?
We aim to complete your vehicle between 5- 7 days. This varies depending on the difficulty and size of the vehicle. We understand that it is difficult to be without a vehicle for that amount of time, which is why we offer a courtesy car until the job has been completed.
